My artistic approach

From a very young age, I was captivated by pop culture, cartoons, and comic book and manga characters. To this day, they remain essential sources of inspiration. I love reinterpreting these familiar figures, playing with them, and distorting them, as if to reveal something hidden just behind the image we think we know.

Nevertheless, I don’t want to limit myself to this light or nostalgic universe. I also address current issues that outrage me: police violence, social tensions, the climate crisis. These themes enter my works sometimes with humor, sometimes with gravity, it all depends on my mood at the moment.

Since my series on the 7th continent, another aspect has become paramount for me: aligning my practice with my values. So, I make my own paints, I transform plant dyes into pigments that I then use for painting, I create my own watercolors, and I practice egg tempera. This requires time and a good deal of obstinacy, but this research is as much a part of my approach as the image itself. It’s my way of aligning my creation with my convictions.

If I had to define my work, I would say it often lies between the familiarity of a popular universe and the necessity of looking at the world as it is. A mix of nostalgia, satire, irony, and very real concerns.
